CHAIN AND LIFTING HARDWARE
Low and high carbon steel welded and weldless chain and accessories to be used in tension or pull applications are not to be used for lifting or hoisting purposes or when failure is likely to cause damage to property or persons. Jerking or acceleration in the rate of application of a load multiplies the stress on the chain very rapidly and should be avoided. Actual applications should determine the size and grade of chain to be used. Also stocking Transport Chains and Wire Rope Clips.

Grade 30 is known as proof coil chain. This chain is ideal for tailgates, towing, tie-downs, logging, and applications that don't require the greater strengths of Grade 70 and Grade 40/43.

All chains manufactured to NACM 90 and or ASTM 80 Specifications. Tested and certified. Half drums and dealer pails available in zinc plated and hot galvanized. Also available in ASTM Specification. Upon request, NACM 96 available.
Grade 40/43 is a high-test chain, approximately 50% stronger than Grade 30 chain. Typical uses are load binding, tie downs, and towing.
Grade 70— Links are heat treated. Ideal for transport, load binding, logging and towing. This chain is 20% stronger than grade 40/43 chain and about 60% stronger than Grade 30 chain. Meets D.O.T. 49 CFR, 393.102.
Grade 80— The most common chain for lifting. Chain is made in accordance with NACM (National Association of Chain Manufacturers) standards and is stamped with NACM grade designation. Maximum temperature is 400° F.
Grade 100— This chain is approximately 25% stronger than Grade 80 chain. It's made in accordance with NACM (National Association of Chain Manufacturers) standards and is stamped with NACM grade designation. Maximum temperature is 400° F. Meets ASTM A973 specifications.

U-Bolt-It distributes the finest quality domestic and import wire rope cables, Wire Rope Clips, wire rope cable assemblies, and cable lanyards used for construction, marine & off-shore, and other industrial applications.. Our wire rope products are made from single wires that are twisted into main strands. The most standard constructions of wire rope are 1x7, 1x19, 7x7, and 7x19 which represents (# of strands by # of wires in each strand). Wire rope and wire rope assemblies are available in steel and stainless steel. It is available in plain steel, galvanized steel, zinc-plated steel, and nylon coated.
The
correct way to measure wire rope is with the faces of
the caliper in contact with the crowns of two opposing
strands.
Marline Clad Wire Rope
has individual strands coated with marline before they
are laid around the core. Its use is limited to
applications where the marline exterior is desired for
easier handling, or where additional friction, provided
by the marline covering, is needed for friction drives.
One such duty is car puller service, where the rope
makes several wraps around a power driven capstan and
traction is obtained by the friction developed between
the marline and the capstan
Vinyl or Nylon Coated Wire Ropes
are available for galvanized, stainless
steel, or similar combination. The coating protects the
rope and worker's hands. Plastic coatings are generally
transparent so the rope can be visually inspected. Other
materials are also used to coat wire ropes
Galvanized Steel Wire Rope: Running Rope,
a 6x12 right lay, regular lay construction with fiber
core, is a flexible rope with good corrosion
resistance-although not particularly high strength. Each
of the six strands has an outer layer of 12 galvanized
steel wires. These strands do not have inside wires,
such as is customary with standard 6x19 classification
rope. Fiber is used in place of these inside wires.
Galvanized Steel Wire Rope Mooring Lines
and hawsers are 6x24, right lay, regular
lay with fiber core. Sometimes, in even larger sizes of
marine ropes, a 6x30 galvanized steel wire rope is used;
right lay, regular lay, with fiber core, also having
fiber cores in each of the six strands. With ropes this
large, however, a conventional 6x37 classification
galvanized steel rope with fiber core is sufficiently
flexible and durable for the duty, which is usually a
towing hawser.

1x7 and
1x19 Classification Wire Rope
are single-strand constructions with good abrasion
resistance, but low flexibility. The 1 x 19 strand is
slightly more flexible, but less abrasion resistant than
the 1 x 7 strand. These wire ropes are ideal for linear
force applications.
3x7 Hollow Core Wire Ropes
are made of small diameter construction and is extremely
flexible. Best for light duty applications.
6x7 Class Fiber Core Wire Rope
is also known as sash cord. This type is perfect for
light duty applications.
6x19
Classification Wire Ropes
provide an excellent balance between fatigue and wear
resistance. This is a general purpose rope that is
durable and will give long service with moderately sized
sheaves and drums. 6x19 wire rope is often used for
hoists, boom hoists, haulage ropes and slings.
6x37
Classification Wire Ropes
have a third layer of wires that makes them more
flexible, but less abrasion-resistant than ropes of the
6x19 class. Each strand contains numerous, comparatively
small diameter wires which offer superior bending
ability. As the number of wires in each strand
increases, flexibility increases. Often used on winches
and as hoist ropes on overhead and mobile cranes.
7x7Aircraft
cable
designed for use in operating controls cables on
aircraft, is sometimes called cord. There are two
general types. One is composed of six strands of seven
wires each, laid around a seven-wire core strand, and is
called 7x7. The second type, 7x19, is a more flexible
cord, made of six strands of 19 wires each, laid around
a core strand of 19 wires.
7x19 Stainless Steel Aircraft Cable Type
304
Is selected for its excellent corrosion-resistant
qualities and is often used in light hoisting and
rigging applications. Its chromium content forms an
impervious protective barrier against corrosive
environments

" Galvanized Aircraft
Cable
is a common industry term for small diameter, corrosion-
resistant, zinc-coated wire rope originally designed for
aeronautical applications. It is a flexible and
inexpensive cable used on winches, guy lines and
numerous other commercial, industrial and marine
applications.
19x7
Rotation-Resistant Wire Rope
is a special class of rope designed to resist the
tendency to spin or rotate under load. This is achieved
by laying 6 strands around the core in one direction,
then laying 12 strands around the first operation in
another direction. Non-rotating wire rope is often used
for hoisting unguided loads with a single part rope.
This unique design does, however, impose certain
limitations on the rope's application and handling. (The
term "non-rotating" is a misnomer, because all wire rope
has some tendency to rotate under load.)

raulic, and impact models. Hand held models are sued to cut smaller wire rope diameters including safety wire, truck and rail security cables. Hydraulic wire rope cutters are made to cut the toughest cables, clean and without affecting the roundness of the wire rope. Impact cutters are portable, easy to operate, and are actuated by using a hammer and striking a few hard blows to effect a perfect cut
Wire
Rope Clips:
Malleable iron clips are good where corrosion is not a
factor. Forged steel clips are stronger than malleable
iron clips and is also good for applications where
corrosion is not a factor. Type 304 stainless steel
clips

Wire Rope Rigging is comprised of many pieces of equipment to make up a package that is right for the job. Rigging can comprise of wire rope with blocks and pulleys, shackles, turnbuckles, hoisting rings, cable grips, sockets, hooks, and more.
Wire
Rope Sleeves
are made of aluminum and used to splice twisted or
braided nylon fibrous rope.
Stops
create a stop at the end of the wire rope. Note:
Stop sleeves are not for lifting applications. Copper or
Aluminum
Stainless Steel Wire Rope provides a combination of strength and corrosion resistance to meet some of the toughest applications in most any industry. Stainless wire rope is used in aeronautical and navel fields where non-magnetic properties are a necessity. Applications for stainless wire rope also include marine, food processing, elevators, rigging & scaffolding, conveyors, and physical fitness equipment.
Because some stainless provides extra corrosion resistance, it is ideal for uses in highly corrosive atmospheres including offshore projects where salt spray is highly potent.
Wire
Rope Thimbles
are used for distributing weight evenly around the loop,
and protect wire rope assemblies from damage and wear.
Zinc-plated steel thimbles provide good corrosion
resistance in most environments. For better corrosion
resistance, choose hot-dipped galvanized steel thimbles
that have a thicker zinc coating. Type 304 and 316
stainless steel thimbles exhibit excellent corrosion
resistance.
NEVER exceed maximum load work limitations. NOT to be used for overhead lifting
Choosing the right fastener material is important when applications call for differences in strength, brittleness, corrosion resistance, galvanic corrosion properties, and cost.
