EYE-BOLTS (INCLUDING FORGED)
The most common types of eye bolts are forged eye bolts (forged eye-bolts), screw eye bolts, shoulder eye bolts, pivoting eye bolts and thimble eye bolts. Each type of eye bolt has its practical applications. Forged eyebolts offer higher load ratings than most eye bolts. Screw eye bolts are often used for lifting and rigging.
Eye bolts are made from a variety of materials including forged and hardened steel, stainless steel, brass, bronze, and titanium. Aluminum eye bolts are available but they are not as strong as steel. Hot dipped galvanized and stainless steel have anti-corrosion features, however, stainless steel cannot be hardened like carbon steel.
For applications that are for vertical lifting only, load-rated eye bolts are available. It is not recommended to use load-rated eye bolts for angular lifting. Regular nut eye bolts and shoulder machinery eye bolts are mainly used to lift and hold loads that are pulling straight down. Use only shoulder nut eyebolts for angular loading.
Heavy-Duty Lifting Eyes use short, large-diameter threads for lifting heavy plates. This type of eye bolt is designed for straight, vertical lifting only. These high strength fasteners are used for highway, building, and marine construction, including off- shore operations. Other eye bolts available include swivel, pivoting, and thimble types.
REGULAR PATTERN EYE BOLT
Regular nut eye bolts are designed for straight line pull applications only.

FORGED SHOULDER NUT EYE BOLTS
Forged Shoulder Eye Bolts are designed for both angled lifting and vertical lifting. The shoulder of the eyebolt has to be installed completely flush with the mounting surface. Working load limits apply to straight vertical lifts only. Lifting at an angle (45 degree maximum) significantly reduces the load limit. They are available in plain or stainless steel materials or hot dipped galvanized steel

Other types of lifting eyes include:
Pivoting and Swivel Hoist Eye Bolts and lifting rings are perfect for special and custom lift operations. A variety of sizes are available in standard and metric sizes and can be completed with U-bars, screws, bushings, washers and other equipment to outfit any job requirement. These special lifting eyes are a handy accessory for light and heavy load lifting capacities and available in various sizes and configurations.
Straight and Angled Thimble Eye Bolts can be used to fix cable guys and wire attachments to poles and cross arms, attach belay cables, fasten element support systems, and used for attaching hand lines on rope courses and climbing towers.
Hot Dipped Galvanized Eyebolts provide maximum corrosion resistance against outdoor elements and are well suited for coastal and offshore applications. Because galvanized coated fasteners have a thick coating, they will only work with similar galvanized nuts.
Stainless Steel eyebolts are highly resistant to corrosion from chemicals and salt water exposure. Stainless fasteners are used in a variety of projects involving chemical and food processing operations, marine, offshore and coastal functions.
IMPORTANT WARNINGS & APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Warnings:
1. Loads may slip or fall if proper eye bolt assembly and lifting procedures are not used
2. A failing load can seriously injury or kill.
3. Read and understand all of the instructions, and follow all eye bolt safety information.
4. Read, understand and follow information in diagrams and charts before using eye bolt assemblies.
Important safety information
1. Always inspect eye bolts before use.
2. Never use an eyebolt that shows signs of wear or damage.
3. Never use an eye bolt if eye or shank is bent or elongated.
4. Always be sure the threads on the shank and receiving holes are clean.
5. Never machine, grind, or cut an eye bolt.
Assembly Safety
1. Never exceed load limits specified in Table 1.
2. Never use regular nut eye bolts for angular lifts.
3. Always use shoulder nut eye bolts for angular lifts.
4. For angular lifts, adjust load limits as follows:
5. Never undercut eye bolt to seat shoulder against load
6. Always countersink receiving hole or use washers to seat shoulder
7. Always screw eye bolt down completely
8. Always tighten nuts securely against the load
