Hex nuts have an interior thread that is used to screw the nut onto a hex bolt with matching thread. The use of hex nuts provides a strong, secure join with the bolt that is able to withstand high wear, stress and strain. As a result, hex nuts and bolts are used in many industrial applications that require a strong join that will hold under high wear, movement and heavy loads. Common uses include machinery, engines, motors, industrial equipment and furniture.

Hex nuts are used with bolts of all styles and sizes. In general, they are hand-tightened or tightened with a wrench. The six-sided hexagonal shape is used in all industries to fasten items. Jam nuts are designed to press against another nut. Only half the height of a standard nut, jam nuts are used as a locknut to prevent loosening. Kep nuts are a pre-assembled nut and washer. Also called a k-lock nut, it has a free-spinning washer to make produce assembly more convenient. When tightened the teeth of the lock washer dig into the item’s surface.
L9 hex nuts have incredible tensile strength with special features that control torque-tension characteristics to allow for maximum holding power in high clamp loads. They are used for specific automotive, aerospace and construction industries. Also known as blind nuts, Tee nuts are ideal for assembly in the manufacture of products to fasten wood, plastic or composite materials. Slotted hex nuts are used with a cotter pin that passes through a drill hole in the bolt or stud to prevent the nut from loosening.
Nyloc nuts are used in a wide variety of applications that involve vibration or motion. The nylon insert locknuts resist loosening and can be reused for up to fifteen times. However, due to the insert material, nylon locknuts should not be used in high-temp or environments with harsh chemical exposure. Wing nuts have two large metal wings that are excellent for hand turning applications where there is frequent disassembly and reassembly. Rod coupling join two externally threaded parts of equal thread diameter and pitch, including rods or pipes.
